Agnes Video Generator

Free tokens: two ways to get text model APIs for nothing

Connect AMD Radeon Cloud and OpenRouter free models to the text provider of Agnes Video Generator and run AI screenwriting and prompts at zero cost

Since v7.0.0 the text-generation layer of Agnes Video Generator accepts third-party providers. AI screenwriting, scene prompts, poetry splitting, manuscript segmentation and image-prompt rewriting no longer have to run on the built-in Agnes model — they can run on a free model you configure yourself. Two options are worth using right now: AMD’s official Radeon Cloud free model API, and OpenRouter’s free models whose ID ends in `:free`.

Two free options

AMD Radeon Cloud

AMD’s official free model API

For text models we currently recommend AMD Radeon Cloud — AMD’s official free model API. Free models from other vendors are supported too (paid ones work as well, but there is no need for them).

  • ✓How to get a key: sign in to Token Factory and open Public Free Model APIs (phone, email or GitHub login is enough — no credit card needed).
  • ✓Pick the OpenAI-compatible protocol and use the base URL below.
  • ✓The free shared endpoint offers several mainstream models (e.g. DeepSeek-V4-Flash, Qwen3.8-Flash-Next, MiniCPM5-1B); one key works for all of them — check the actual list on the page.
  • ✓Note: the shared endpoint is rate-limited per key and per IP with a daily cap; it suits debugging and light text tasks, not a production-grade high-concurrency API.

OpenRouter

Free-model aggregation gateway

OpenRouter aggregates models from many vendors behind one OpenAI-compatible endpoint, and a large part of them come with a free variant: if the model ID ends in `:free` you can call it for free, and one key works for every model. Handy when you want many models at once or want to compare their writing styles.

  • ✓How to get a key: sign up at OpenRouter (Google or GitHub login works), then create an API key on the Keys page — no credit card needed.
  • ✓Example free models: `z-ai/glm-5.2:free`, `qwen/qwen3.8-27b:free`, `google/gemma-4-31b-it:free`, `nvidia/nemotron-3-super-120b-a12b:free` and more; the list changes over time, so check the official free model list.
  • ✓Rate limits: free variants have per-minute and per-day request caps, tiered by the credits your account has purchased historically, and extra accounts or keys do not bypass them; an upstream provider can also return 429, in which case retrying is enough.
  • ✓How to use it: the protocol is OpenAI-compatible again, the base URL is below, and you just put the model id (with the `:free` suffix) into the provider’s model list.

Wiring it into the self-hosted build

  1. 1. Grab a free key from AMD or OpenRouter.
  2. 2. Deploy the self-hosted build, version 7.0.0 or newer (the Web Studio still runs the built-in Agnes text model and has not opened third-party providers yet).
  3. 3. Open the local Web UI (http://localhost:8765 by default) and go to Provider Management in the settings, then click Add provider.
  4. 4. Choose the OpenAI-compatible protocol, paste the matching base URL and your key, then use Fetch or type a model id; save and switch the text model to that provider’s model.

Things to keep in mind

  • This capability currently ships with the self-hosted build only (v7.0.0 and newer): the Web Studio still uses the built-in Agnes text model and will follow in a later release.
  • Free quotas are limited and can change at any time: try a small task first, then decide whether to rely on it every day.
  • Keys are stored in your own self-hosted instance (or browser) and never uploaded to this site — but do not share a key publicly.
  • Image and video models have no suitable free alternative yet, so they cannot be configured; if you know a good one, open a GitHub Issue or Discussion.

Start creating

Once the free text model is configured, AI screenwriting, scene prompts and image prompts all run on your own provider, and video generation stays free.
